Our bubble room in Campania sits inside a seven-thousand-square-metre orchard garden in the historic centre of Capua, in the province of Caserta. It is a quiet place closed by a wall — and, by pure geography, one of the best-connected spots in the region: the Royal Palace of Caserta is twenty minutes away, Naples thirty-five, the Amalfi Coast a little over an hour.
The area: Terra di Lavoro
Capua stands on a bend of the Volturno river, in the heart of the plain the Romans called Campania felix and which for centuries was the Terra di Lavoro: the most fertile land in southern Italy, home to buffalo herds, citrus groves and vineyards. This is not postcard Campania — there is no sea view — and that is exactly why it kept an atmosphere the coast has lost.
The town sits inside sixteenth-century walls. You walk everywhere, dinner costs little, and in the evening the old centre becomes quiet in a way that feels almost unreal if you have come from Naples. Our garden borders the Gran Maestrato San Lazzaro bastion: ancient walls on one side, lemons and oranges on the other.
“Sleep in a garden the city did not know it had, and wake up half an hour from Naples.”
What there is in Campania, starting from here
The ancient world
Campano Amphitheatre · 18 min
Second in size only to the Colosseum. Here, in the first gladiator school in the world, the revolt of Spartacus began in 73 BC.
Pompeii · 1 h
The Roman town stopped by Vesuvius. Leave at 7:30 and enter at opening time: after ten it is a different experience.
Paestum · 1 h 30 min
Three Greek temples in the Sele plain, among the best preserved in the world, and far less crowded than Pompeii.
The Bourbons
Royal Palace of Caserta · 20 min
A UNESCO site and the largest royal residence in the world by volume. The real spectacle is the park: three kilometres of pools and cascades.
Carditello Estate · 20 min
The Bourbon hunting estate, abandoned for decades and now reborn. Almost nobody knows it: our most frequent recommendation.
Caserta Vecchia · 35 min
The medieval village on the mountain, with its Norman cathedral. Go in the evening and eat outdoors above the lit plain.
The sea
Amalfi Coast · from 1 h 15 min
Vietri is the gateway and the closest point; Amalfi and Positano need a full day. In summer take the ferry from Salerno rather than the coast road.
Domizio coast · 35 min
The nearest sea to us, long and sandy. Not the Amalfi Coast, but perfect for an August afternoon without queues.
Capri and Ischia · half a day
Ferry or hydrofoil from the port of Naples, about an hour from here — best by train plus metro.
The city and the table
Naples · 35–40 min
Spaccanapoli, the Veiled Christ, the Archaeological Museum with the treasures of Pompeii. Take the train: traffic is unpredictable, the regional line is not.
Buffalo mozzarella · right here
The DOP is born in this very plain. Several historic dairies are less than twenty minutes away and sell early in the morning, while it is still warm.
Sannio and Falerno wines · 40 min
Falanghina, Aglianico and Falerno, the wine the Romans considered the finest in the empire. Cellars visit by appointment.

Getting here
By car
Motorway exit A1 Capua, then signs for the historic centre. Private parking inside the property, included in your stay.
By train
Santa Maria Capua Vetere station on the Naples–Rome line, then a ten-minute taxi. From Rome, high-speed to Naples and then the regional train.
By air
Naples Capodichino is the reference airport: 45–55 minutes by car. We arrange private transfers on request.
Do you need a car?
Not for Capua, Caserta and Naples. Yes for Carditello, Caserta Vecchia, the sea and the Amalfi Coast — or we can arrange a car with driver.
When to come
Spring
April–June: citrus blossom. If we had to pick one week of the year, it would be an early week of May.
Summer
July–August: warm nights and clear skies. The tree canopy keeps the garden several degrees below city temperature.
Autumn
September–October: the best season for stars and for touring the region without crowds.
Winter
Selected openings. Heated dome, ripe citrus and rain sliding down the glass above your head.
What it costs
The planned list price is €390 per night for two, breakfast included. Joining the waiting list before opening locks in the launch price of €249, reserved for our first guests. Extra services — dinner in the orchard, massages, guided tours, transfers — are booked separately.
