Breakfast here does not come from a supplier: it comes from outside the door. Which means it changes constantly. Here is what to expect, depending on when you come.
Winter — January to March
This is citrus time. Oranges and lemons hit their peak exactly when the rest of the garden sleeps. Days are short, the sky is clear, and in the evening you feel the cold rising from the Volturno.
Spring — April to June
The blossom. If we had to choose one week of the year to have you here, it would be an early week of May: the scent of citrus flowers in the evening cannot be described. Towards the end of June the first peaches arrive.
Summer — July and August
Peaches, plums and the first hazelnuts. The canopy keeps the garden several degrees below city temperature, and the nights are right for the sky: in summer Capua shows far more stars than you would expect half an hour from Naples.
Autumn — September to November
The olive harvest and the last hazelnuts. The air dries, the light turns oblique, and the orchard takes on that colour everyone tries and fails to photograph. For many, the best season.
